Shouldn’t I just use a website building service like Wix or Squarespace?
Website builders like Wix or Squarespace certainly have their place and can be a great solution. The real question you should be asking though is “how much work am I willing to take on myself?” These services can make building your own website more accessible, but they still require work, skill and knowledge. A quality website is a key part of an overall digital marketing plan that might also include your Google Business Profile, SEO, social media and other aspects of representing your business online. Are you willing to dedicate the time and attention to learning these skills and managing these processes, or would you rather have an expert do that for you so you can focus on your business?
How much work will I need to do?
No one knows your business as well as you do, so I will need you to provide the written content and photography for your website. I can help edit and provide suggestions, but ultimately this will be your responsibility. To ensure you maintain ownership over the key aspects of your website, I will also need you to create certain accounts and then then delegate access to me for the actual work.
As needed, I will help you register and manage your domain name, email account(s), Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Search Console accounts.
Can I get my own domain name and custom email address?
You certainly can. If you do not have a domain name yet, I will help you register one, and make sure you maintain full and complete ownership over that domain name. I can also help set up custom email addresses for your business.
Can you get my website the top SEO ranking?
The only honest answer is “it depends”. There are so many factors behind getting that number 1 ranking, including how much competition there is for that top spot and how much you are willing to invest in reaching that top spot. This is the wrong question to ask, though. Instead, you should focus on a comprehensive approach to SEO that covers a range of keywords and brings in the most potential customers for your business. Many businesses have a thriving SEO strategy without a single number 1 ranking, by focusing on using SEO to bring in qualified website traffic and not on hitting that top spot.
Can you help with cookie compliance for CCPA?
I sure can - though I must point out that I am not a lawyer and I can not provide legal advice. But, I can help implement cookie consent management tools for CCPA, GDPR and other privacy laws. I also have quite a bit of experience in overall industry best practices when it comes to privacy compliance for websites.
Someone told me I need a Wordpress site, is that something you can help with?
There are many tools and systems for building a website, and Wordpress is certainly one of those options. In fact, it is the world’s most popular system for building a website and can be the perfect solution for your business. But, there are other systems and processes available, and I prefer the “right tool for the job” approach. While Wordpress has a lot going for it, there are downsides to using Wordpress. In many cases, it can be overkill for what many businesses need, and Wordpress does come with higher operating & maintenance costs.
